Pistachio Puppy Chow has been one of my all-time favorite treats since childhood. I first discovered it at a school bake sale and have been hooked ever since. By high school, I had memorized the classic recipe because I made it so often. Recently, I’ve started exploring different Puppy Chow flavors, and this pistachio version is a standout!
Ingredients
- 1 (12 oz) box Rice Chex
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup white chocolate or cream cheese chips
- 1 (3.4 oz) box instant pistachio pudding mix
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar
How to Make Pistachio Puppy Chow
Step 1: Prepare the Cereal
- Pour the Rice Chex cereal into a very large bowl or a doubled clean brown paper bag; set aside.
Step 2: Make the Coating
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, and white chocolate or cream cheese chips.
- Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until the chips are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
Step 3: Add Flavorings
- Mix in the instant pistachio pudding mix until evenly combined.
- Add the vanilla extract and salt, stirring well.
Step 4: Coat the Cereal
- Pour the pudding mixture over the Rice Chex cereal and toss until the cereal is evenly coated.
- Add the powdered sugar and toss again until the cereal is well-coated.
Step 5: Cool and Store
- Allow the treat to cool completely.
- Store in an airtight container. For the best taste, enjoy within the first day or two!
