Savory Italian Stromboli: A Crowd-Pleaser in Five Simple Steps

This savory Italian Stromboli is a straightforward and delectable solution for feeding a large group. With just five key ingredients, it’s brimming with capicola, melted mozzarella cheese, and a sprinkle of store-bought pizza seasoning. Serve it alongside jarred marinara sauce for those who enjoy a good dip.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 roll of Pillsbury pizza dough
  • 8 slices of deli-style ham
  • 10 slices of Genoa-style salami
  • 12 slices of sandwich-style pepperoni
  • 8 slices of provolone or mozzarella cheese (shredded cheese is also an option)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons of freshly chopped parsley
  • 3 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese

PREPARATION

  1. Combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and Parmesan cheese in a bowl. Set this mixture aside.
  2. Prepare your baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Stretch out the pizza dough until it nearly covers your baking sheet.
  4. Begin layering your deli meats on the dough. Start with the ham, followed by the salami, and finally the pepperoni. Top this off with a layer of cheese.
  5. Roll the Stromboli lengthwise, ensuring the seam is well-sealed. Pinch and tuck any excess dough under the Stromboli. Make a few slits on the top with a serrated knife to allow steam to escape during baking.
  6. Brush the top of the Stromboli with the garlic butter mixture.
  7. Bake the Stromboli according to the instructions on the pizza dough packaging.
  8. While traditional Stromboli includes red sauce, I prefer to serve it on the side for dipping. Feel free to add it inside if you prefer!
  9. Bon Appétit!
