			- 4 large starchy potatoes (Russet or Idaho)
 - 2 tablespoons butter
 - 1/4 cup milk (or cream for a richer flavor)
 - 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional, cheddar or mozzarella)
 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
 - 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
 - 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
 - 2 large eggs, beaten
 - 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
 - Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
 
Instructions
- Cook the Potatoes:
- Peel and cut the potatoes into chunks. Boil them in salted water for about 10-15 minutes until fork-tender.
 - Drain the potatoes and mash them while still warm.
 
 - Prepare the Potato Mixture:
- Add butter, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the mashed potatoes. Stir until smooth and creamy.
 - If using cheese, fold it into the mashed potatoes. Let the mixture cool slightly for easy handling.
 
 - Shape the Potato Balls:
- Roll 2 tablespoons of the mixture into balls.
 
 - Bread the Potato Balls:
- Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
 - Coat each ball with flour, dip into the eggs, and then roll in breadcrumbs.
 
 - Fry the Potato Balls:
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry the balls in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
 - Remove and drain on paper towels.
 
 - Serve:
- Serve hot with your preferred dipping sauce, like ketchup, sour cream, or spicy aioli.
