Description
When tomatoes are plenty and I fill my stock amply with tomato sauce, I make this. It’s a little bit sweet, a little bit spicy, and super satisfying on buttered crackers or on toasted bread with cream cheese and bacon (try it might surpass your average BLT)
Ingredients
- Tomatoes (prepped and chopped)
- Brown sugar
- Apple cider vinegar
- Ginger (grated or minced)
- Salt
- Cayenne pepper
- Cinnamon
- Cloves
Instructions
- Add the prepped tomatoes to a pot.
- Mix in brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, ginger, salt, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, and cloves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
- Let it cook for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to a jam-like consistency.
- Allow the Tomato Jam to cool completely before serving.
Serving Suggestions:
- Spread on crackers.
- Use as a sandwich topping.
- Enjoy as a sweet and spicy condiment with various dishes.
The jam has a balance of acidity from vinegar, sweetness from sugar, and warmth from spices like ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. The cayenne adds a touch of heat, making this jam a unique and flavorful spread! 🍅🔥
