Instructions

Instructions for Sanny’s Hamburgers and Gravy

1. Prepare the Patties

  1. Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  2. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  3. Shape the mixture into 4 evenly sized patties.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add a drizzle of oil, and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until fully browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

2. Make the Gravy

  1. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, scraping up any browned bits from cooking the patties.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
  3. Slowly pour in the beef broth while whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  4. Simmer the gravy until thickened (about 5 minutes). For a creamier consistency, stir in the heavy cream.
  5. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

3. Combine and Serve

  1. Return the cooked patties to the skillet, spooning gravy over the top.
  2. Let the patties simmer in the gravy for 3-5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  3. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or your favorite sides.
