Instructions for Sanny’s Hamburgers and Gravy
1. Prepare the Patties
- Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
- Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Shape the mixture into 4 evenly sized patties.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add a drizzle of oil, and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until fully browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
2. Make the Gravy
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, scraping up any browned bits from cooking the patties.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth while whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
- Simmer the gravy until thickened (about 5 minutes). For a creamier consistency, stir in the heavy cream.
- Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
3. Combine and Serve
- Return the cooked patties to the skillet, spooning gravy over the top.
- Let the patties simmer in the gravy for 3-5 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or your favorite sides.
