Dry Ingredients:

Wet Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and spices.
- In another bowl, cream softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Chill the Dough:
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to firm up.
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll and Cut the Dough:
- Roll the chilled dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes.
- Bake:
- Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes or until the edges are firm and lightly browned.
- Cool:
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Decorate (Optional):
- Once completely cooled, decorate with royal icing, buttercream, or sprinkles as desired.
