Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and spices.
    • In another bowl, cream softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Mix in the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  2. Chill the Dough:
    • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to firm up.
  3. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  4. Roll and Cut the Dough:
    • Roll the chilled dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
    • Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes.
  5. Bake:
    • Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them.
