For the Casserole:
- 3 cups cooked chicken (shredded or cubed)
- 1 ½ cups ham (diced or sliced)
- 2 cups Swiss cheese (shredded or sliced)
- 1 ½ cups cream sauce (made from sour cream, milk, or heavy cream)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- ½ tsp paprika (optional, for flavor)
For the Topping:
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (regular or panko)
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese (optional, for added flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Prepare the Layers:
- Spread the shredded chicken evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.
- Layer the ham slices or cubes on top of the chicken.
- Add a layer of Swiss cheese, ensuring full coverage.
- Make the Cream Sauce:
- In a bowl, mix your chosen cream base (sour cream, milk, or heavy cream) with optional spices (garlic powder, paprika) for added flavor.
- Pour the cream sauce evenly over the casserole layers.
- Add the Topping:
- In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with melted butter (and Parmesan cheese, if using).
- Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
- Bake:
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.
- Cool and Serve:
- Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving to set the layers.
- Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and enjoy!
