Enjoy Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls with juicy steak, Provolone, and a crispy wrapper—a perfect fusion appetizer for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin recommended)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz for traditional flavor)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)

For the Egg Rolls:

  • 10 egg roll wrappers
  • Oil for frying (canola or vegetable oil)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking for 5-7 minutes until tender.
    • Add the beef slices, seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until browned (3-5 minutes).
    • Remove from heat and mix in shredded provolone until melted and combined. Let the filling cool slightly.
  2. Assemble the Egg Rolls:
    • Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface, with one corner facing you.
    • Place 2-3 spoonfuls of the filling in the center.
    • Wet the edges of the wrapper, fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll up tightly. Repeat with the remaining wrappers.
  3. Cook the Egg Rolls:
    • In a large skillet, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium-high heat (around 350°F or 175°C).
    • Fry the egg rolls in batches, cooking each side for 3-4 minutes until golden and crispy.
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces, like marinara or ranch.

Tips

  • For a healthier option, bake the egg rolls at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, brushing with oil for crispiness.
  • Customize the filling with ingredients like mushrooms or different cheeses.
